In the series Infinity Diagrams I present images of the world
that have been processed using digital media. I start with a photograph
taken of a specific structure a water tower, a building, and so forth
that has iconic significance. I then repeat this image over and over
arriving at a final image that is a digital construction but one that
remains 100 percent photographic.

I use the language of cutting and pasting that has its origins
in cubist collage and has been taken over and exploited by digital
media. This is an important aspect of the work because of the way in
which digital media allows the world to be imaged.

This process of imaging is a specific language, which has
allowed me to explore with great speed complex patterned images that
pull from my interest in Islamic ornamentation, Buddhist mandalas, and
Gothic stained glass among other sources. Ultimately, my goal in using
this process is to create images that establish a position somewhere
between the structured abstractions of the American painter Ad
Reinhardt and the analytic photographs of the Germans Bernd and Hilda
Becher.
